It’s been nominated for many short festivals and is quite funny in a sick kind of way. I was lucky enough to see it on the big(ish) screen at the Fitzroy Shorts Festival. see for yourself.

be warned its pretty gory, but not scary!

Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto

October 13th, 2006

Took me a while to warm to their tunes but after a wee bit i did get into it.

Thoughs
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Genious
Alva Noto - Too much spare time on his hands to create mediocre loops

With insen Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto create a new synergy between acoustic piano and electronic music. Subtle digital processing and an on-stage LED screen installation by Alva Noto counterbalance and manipulate Sakamoto’s elegant piano phrasing, creating vivid dialogues between melody, rhythm and texture. insen is an exquisite exploration of what music might look like. Strips of light and grid-like patterns appear on screen, triggered by Sakamoto’s piano playing and Alva Noto’s electronic processing in a perfect synchronisation of sound and visuals. With senses heightened the audience is taken on an eclectic visual and aural journey.

We had a few drinks then moved off to the Espy where Ils was due to play a set for us. unknown to me nick had a little bag of Fresh Philosopher’s Stone

Mt Macedon & the macedon ranges

September 14th, 2006

It’s Holiday time
cabin funYipee the weekend came and went with no more than a few hot farts form a curry i had for dinner friday. needless to say no one who sniffed, no infact was privileged enough to savour the aroma, was too happy about it.

Farts
This is a complete aside but why is it that one revels in ones own stench of flatulence but when one gets a whiff on another bottom burp its akin to being ritually tortured skinned alive and drooped in a vat a vinegar.

September 10th, 2006

This Dude is AMAZING
Ned ColletteWent to see Ned Collette play at the Nortcote Social Club for his album launch. It was quite frankly one of the best gigs i have been to for quite some time, made me think of Jeff Buckley. Ned is an amazing guitarist, singer, lyricist and his set was almost perfect.
